Where will YOUR family be on May 21st? How about at a park to celebrate “Kids to Parks Day“? Any park works – the local playground down the street, that new park across town you’ve been meaning to check out, or the peaceful nature preserve a couple of hours away. You could go for a morning outing, an afternoon picnic, a scenic daytrip, or even a weekend camping excursion. The important thing is to get outdoors as a family and connect with each other and the world around you!
What is Kids to Parks Day, you might ask? From the National Park Trust website: “KTP Day is a nation-wide day of outdoor play organized by National Park Trust (NPT) in cooperation with a host of local and national collaborators.” And if that doesn’t sound enticing enough, the NPT website also provides loads of fun family activities/tips/resources for both parents and kids.
Additionally, the NPT has generously agreed to give a set of 2 National Geograpic books to one lucky Cragmama reader – Buddy Bison’s Yellowstone Adventure, as well as the Nat Geo Kids National Park Guide (The pictures are amazing, be prepared to expand your travel budget when your child presents to you his/her shortlist of parks vacation ideas!) To enter, simply leave a comment below about YOUR favorite park, and a winner will be chosen at random on Thursday, May 5.
In the meantime, head to the NPT website to include your family in the count for Kids to Park Day attendance – last time I looked their were over 223,000 participating!
